The Khitan Liao Dynasty, ruling from 907 CE to 1125 CE, was a powerful nomadic empire in Northeast Asia. The Khitan people practiced shamanism, worshipping spirits and ancestors, while also incorporating elements of Chinese Buddhism.Mythology during this period included stories of heavenly beings and ancestral spirits. The Khitan believed in the power of nature spirits, particularly wolves and eagles, which were seen as protectors of the empire.
