The Maurya Empire, spanning from 322 BCE to 185 BCE, was one of the largest empires in India. Founded by Chandragupta Maurya, it grew under the reign of Ashoka, who promoted the spread of Buddhism across Asia. The empire’s capital was Pataliputra, which was a significant center for commerce, learning, and governance.Under Ashoka’s rule, the empire contributed to the expansion of Buddhist teachings, with mythical figures like Bodhisattvas influencing the culture. The empire also left a rich cultural legacy in art, architecture, and sculpture, which spread through Central Asia.
