1527 CE - 1600 CE. The Late Renaissance was a period of increasing complexity in art, science, and politics. While it retained the grandeur of earlier Renaissance works, it also introduced more dramatic, emotional, and sometimes darker themes, foreshadowing the coming Baroque period.
During this time, mythological creatures began to take on more allegorical roles, representing human emotions and the moral complexities of life. Figures such as the Minotaur and the Furies appeared in artistic and literary works as symbols of inner turmoil and the darker side of human nature.
